There is no substitute for All-Laser Custom LASIK
With so many different messages about LASIK technology, it's hard to know
what's right for you. But make no mistake, procedures advertised as "no-blade
LASIK" or "flapless LASIK" don't necessarily mean All-Laser Custom LASIK
like Dr. Manger performs at Saddleback Eye Center. There is a difference,
and All-Laser Custom LASIK offers you the precision and safety you deserve.
Because All-Laser Custom LASIK is 100% all-laser, 100% blade-free and
100% personalized just for you.
One way these alternative procedures differ from All-Laser Custom LASIK
is the way they prepare the surface of the cornea for the second step
of LASIK. Many doctors and corporate LASIK centers still perform traditional
LASIK, which consists of using a metal blade to perform the first step
of the procedure. However, at Saddleback Eye Center, we only use superior
technology, called Intralase, which allows the flap to be created with
a laser, dramatically improving safety, accuracy, and predictability.
This procedure is referred to as All-Laser Custom LASIK because it utilizes
the Intralase technology to eliminate the microkeratome or metal blade.
And, this is where the messages can get confusing. There are other procedures
that are being called "bladeless" or "flapless" LASIK. These procedures
either create the flap differently than with Intralase technology or don't
create a protective flap at all, which isn't All-Laser Custom LASIK. And,
although they may be advertised for less money, all of these alternative
procedures can be uncomfortable, require more postoperative medication,
and have longer healing times. Furthermore, none of these procedures utilize
a cool-beam laser to precisely create the flap.
So, let's set the record straight! LASIK is only LASIK when a corneal
flap is created. And, All-Laser Custom LASIK is only All-Laser Custom
LASIK when the flap is created using Intralase and VISX Star S4 with Iris
Registration, ActivTrak and CustomVue WavePrint technology is used, period.
Alternative procedures that do not utilize the VISX Star S4 are not All-Laser
Custom LASIK. VISX Star S4 technology brings a new level of accuracy.
It's sophisticated ActivTrak system is the only eye tracking technology
that follows microscopic eye movements in a 3-dimensional pattern to ensure
the highest possible level of accuracy during your treatment. And Iris
Registration is advanced technology that allows Dr. Manger to center and
align your treatment, giving you the added reassurance that your procedure
will be safer and more accurate than ever before.
