Since founding Saddleback Eye Center in 1980, Dr. Charles Manger has performed
close to 58,000 LASIK procedures in our state-of-the-art facility. Dr.
Manger is also ranked in the top 1% of LASIK surgeons in the United States,
an accolade that he earned by being one of America’s most experienced,
consistent, and dedicated professionals in the LASIK industry.
U.S. Senator Daniel K. Inouye appointed Dr. Manger to the U.S. Naval
Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, where he earned his Bachelor of
Science degree in mathematics and nuclear science, graduating with
honors. Dr. Manger then served as the reactor control officer on
a Navy Polaris Missile submarine before earning an honorable discharge
from the Navy in 1970. He completed pre-medical studies at Harvard
University, and then graduated from the University of Southern California
(USC) School of Medicine in 1976. Afterward, he completed a one-year
internship at USC and a three-year ophthalmology residency at USC’s
renowned Doheny Eye Institute in Los Angeles.
Dr. Manger has made several presentations to professional organizations,
had articles printed in professional journals, and has taught the
techniques of his specialty to other surgeons.
Dr. Manger has also personally had refractive surgery to correct
his own nearsightedness, so he knows first hand just how life changing
the results can be. A trusted, well-respected expert in the LASIK
field, numerous other doctors and professionals have entrusted Dr.
Manger with correcting their own vision. Furthermore, Dr. Manger
has performed vision correction on his wife, his son, and over 65
members of his staff and their family members, all of who are now
