Since founding Saddleback Eye Center in 1980, Dr. Charles Manger has performed over 63,000 LASIK procedures in our state-of-the-art facility. U.S. Senator Daniel K. Inouye appointed Dr. Manger to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics and nuclear science, graduating with honors. Dr. Manger then served as the reactor control officer on a Navy Polaris Missile submarine before earning an honorable discharge from the Navy in 1970. He completed pre-medical studies at Harvard University, and then graduated from the University of Southern California (USC) School of Medicine in 1976. Afterward, he completed a one-year internship at USC and a three-year ophthalmology residency at USC's renowned Doheny Eye Institute in Los Angeles.

Dr. Manger has made numerous presentations to professional organizations, has articles printed in professional journals, and has taught the techniques of his specialty to other surgeons.

Dr. Manger has also personally had refractive surgery to correct his own nearsightedness, so he knows first hand just how life changing the results can be.
