Dr. Charles C. Manger III

Since founding Saddleback Eye Center in 1980, Dr. Charles Manger has performed over 67,000 LASIK procedures in our accredited state-of-the-art facility in Orange County. According to industry experts, Dr. Manger is ranked in the top 1% of LASIK surgeons in the United States, an accolade that he earned by being one of America's most experienced, consistent, and dedicated professionals in the LASIK industry.

Dr. Manger attended the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, where he earned his Bachelor's of Science degree in mathematics and nuclear science, graduating with honors. He then served as the reactor control officer on a Navy Polaris Missile submarine before earning an honorable discharge from the Navy in 1970. After completing pre-medical studies at Harvard University, he graduated from the University of Southern California (USC) School of Medicine in 1976. He then completed a one-year internship at USC and a three-year ophthalmology residency at USC's renowned Doheny Eye Institute in Los Angeles.

Dr. Manger developed the most comprehensive diagnostic exam process in the industry, a 14-test series of exams that forms the backbone for producing the outstanding results for which he is known. A trusted, well-respected expert in the LASIK field, Dr. Manger has personally had refractive surgery to correct his own nearsightedness, so he knows firsthand just how life-changing the results can be. He is considered to be one of the most experienced LASIK surgeon in the United States and is ranked in the top 1% of all LASIK surgeons nationwide.

Dr. Manger has participated in many important FDA clinical investigations, covering a wide variety of vision correction technologies. He has been involved in all aspects of eye surgery, including teaching LASIK surgery and lecturing other doctors, and writing and researching on an extensive array of vision correction procedures. Numerous other doctors and medical professionals have entrusted Dr. Manger with correcting their own vision. He has also performed vision correction on his wife, his son, and more than 65 members of his staff and their family members, all of whom are now enjoying the freedom and benefits that clear, crisp vision can provide.
